— About

A practice at the intersection of clinical nursing, perinatal mental health, and somatic, trauma-aware care.

In clinic on Sydney's Northern Beaches

I'm Olivia Davies. Registered Nurse, Maternal Wellbeing Practitioner, and mother of two.

I trained as a nurse over a decade ago and have spent my career working alongside women in the seasons of life that ask the most of them. My practice now sits at the intersection of clinical nursing, perinatal mental health, and somatic, trauma-aware care. It's an approach shaped by years of bedside experience and ongoing study in the fields that matter most to the women I see.

My practice draws on more than a decade of nursing, current research in perinatal mental health, and body-based therapies that work directly with the nervous system. Sessions are available online via Zoom across Australia, and in person on the Northern Beaches.

My work draws on the evidence base behind matrescence, perinatal nervous system regulation, attachment and infant mental health, NDC-informed responsive parenting, and the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale and its limitations. I'm trained in biodynamic craniosacral therapy and continue to deepen my practice through clinical mentorship and study with leading practitioners in maternal and somatic health.

My own experience of becoming a mother sharpened what I already suspected from years of clinical work. The postpartum window in this country is profoundly under-supported. Women are often left to translate their own symptoms, advocate for their own care, and hold the weight of the transition mostly alone.

The work I offer is the work I wanted, and couldn't find.

— Consultations

Evidence-informed, individualised care for women in pregnancy, postpartum, and early motherhood.

Every session is shaped around what you're actually carrying. Clinically, emotionally, and physically.

I keep my caseload small and my schedule deliberate. This protects the quality of attention each woman receives, and it means appointments are limited each month. If you can't see a time that works, get in touch about upcoming openings or the waitlist. All consultations are available online via Zoom across Australia. In-person sessions are offered on Sydney's Northern Beaches.

Maternal Wellbeing Consultation

1 hour  ·  Online via Zoom or in clinic

A focused, one-off session for women who want a clinical perspective and a thinking partner in the same room. We slow down, take stock of what's actually happening, and work through it with both rigour and warmth.

  • The physiological and psychological adjustments of pregnancy, birth, and postpartum
  • The mental load, identity shift, and reorganisation of self that matrescence asks of you
  • Responsive, NDC-informed sleep and feeding support grounded in infant biology
  • Infant cues, early development, and what's typical versus what warrants closer attention
  • Relational dynamics with partners, family, and the wider support system around you

You'll leave with a personalised written summary and curated resources to continue working with beyond our time together.

Maternal Wellbeing Package

3 × 1 hour  ·  Online via Zoom or in clinic

Three sessions designed for women who want continuity, depth, and a clinician walking alongside them through a particular stretch of motherhood.

Across the package we build a working picture of what's happening for you, return to it over time, and develop strategies that take root rather than skim the surface. The pace is yours. The structure holds.

Between sessions you'll receive written reflections, suggested practices, and resources tailored to what we've been working on.

For women navigating the first postpartum year, returning to work, processing a difficult birth, adjusting to a second or third baby, or moving through a season where the load has outgrown one conversation.

Birth & Postnatal Debrief

1 hour  ·  Online via Zoom or in clinic

A dedicated session to give your birth or early postpartum experience the time, language, and clinical context it deserves.

Many women carry a version of their birth story that hasn't been fully heard, or hasn't been examined with someone who understands both the medical pathway and the felt experience. We work through what happened, what it meant, and what's still asking to be processed. With care, and without rush.

This work draws on current understandings of birth-related trauma, perinatal psychology, and somatic integration. It is not a debrief in the bureaucratic sense. It is your story, given proper room.

Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy

1.5 hours  ·  In clinic, Northern Beaches

A gentle, hands-on therapy that works at the level of the nervous system and the body's deeper rhythms of self-regulation. The contact is light. The work is profound.

Biodynamic craniosacral therapy invites the system into a quieter state, where long-held patterns of tension, vigilance, and depletion can begin to release. For postpartum women in particular, whose nervous systems have been reshaped by pregnancy, birth, and the round-the-clock attunement of early motherhood, the effect can be deeply restorative.

This is the kind of rest the body actually registers. Useful when you are stretched thin, recovering from birth, holding chronic tension, or simply ready to come back to yourself.

— A note on the work
The postpartum window is profoundly under-supported. Women are often left to translate their own symptoms, advocate for their own care, and hold the weight of the transition mostly alone.
